Pamela Smith is a mother, creator, and advocate who has dedicated her life to helping others navigate grief and healing, drawing from her experiences of loss, including the grief of divorce, to shape her compassionate perspective and advocacy. In 2013, her life was forever changed when she lost her son, Kortez, to violence. That devastating loss inspired her to create Arky’s World, a nonprofit that supports individuals and families who have lost loved ones to violence. Through love, counsel, prayer, and advocacy, Arky’s World offers free counseling, group support, and resources to help others find strength in their darkest moments.
A woman of deep faith, Pamela has found healing in her spiritual journey, which she shares through her writing. Her belief in the power of prayer, scripture, and reflection led her to create journals that provide a safe space for others to process their emotions and find hope. Her work encourages readers to explore their spiritual journey, reflect on their grief, and discover ways to heal and grow.
Pamela, is also the proud mother of three other children—Dre'khari, Tyree, and Maranda—who continue to bring her strength and purpose. Kortez’s nickname, “Arky,” became the heart of her nonprofit and two small businesses she created to honor his memory.
Arky’s Spoken Scents & Designs began with scented candles that include a hidden scripture revealed after burning—a practice that brought her peace and positivity. The business later expanded into custom shirts and other creations. Her love of ice cream, shared with Kortez, inspired Arky’s Scoop, an ice cream shop that serves as a joyful tribute to their bond.
Through her writing, advocacy, and creative pursuits, Pamela reminds others that even in the depths of grief, faith and love endure. Her first journal, “Reflections of Your Sacred Moments,” encourages readers to explore their spiritual journeys, providing daily scriptures and prompts to inspire deeper connections with God. Her journals and initiatives, including “Reflections of Your Sacred Moments” and “After This: Coping with Loss, Healing, Life, and the Journey Forward,” offer encouragement and support, helping people find light and purpose in their journeys.
Both journals are available on Amazon
